Diverse Cats Skin Dieases Report

Hello everyone, my name is Leyi Wang, I am eleven years old and I am a volunteer at Pasadena Humane which is located Los Angeles, California. I currently a greeter, I am also a boredom buster in society, I love animals, I think all life is equal, I would love to help animals more, so I took the Infectious Disease Management quiz. This way I can touch or get closer to animals in the future. Today my article is about stray cat skin diseases.  There are 60 million to 100 million stray and feral cats in the United States, and 23.3 million pet cats are wanted and loved by humans.

And there are 200-300 cats who got rescued by helpful people and put them in Pasadena Humane. But, there are skin diseases that they might have, and today I will write about the three types of cat skin diseases that they might have. First, Allergies are significant to discard when you find a cat's skin, is because Allergies will cause hair loss, skin damage, diarrhea, sneezing, and vomiting. This will affect their body temperature, and if it’s very bad they might die because of infection of their skin. This can be happening because they were not  treated properly. And the population in the whole world that cats that have allergies is 10-20%.

Then, another skin disease that strays and pet cats can have is Congenital skin disorders. This skin disease is also called aplasia cutis. This skin disease is a disease that is related to Allergies that are related from the top paragraph and when cats react when they have that type of Allergies they will have swollen skin, patches raised, and red skin. Cats might have disorders of internal organs, such as the liver, kidneys, or pancreas. These disorders will affect the chances of having Congenital skin disorders.

After that, the third disease is called Cutaneous lymphoma, the effects of the skin disease are itching, alopecia (hair loss), scaly skin, skin redness, loss of skin color, ulcers, nodules, pustules, and plaques. This skin disease is a very scary disease that can affect a lot of cats because it can be contagious. After 6-12 months when cats have Cutaneous lymphoma, they will probably die because of the fever that cats get because of the skin disease.

To conclude, stray cats will have a higher percentage of getting these skin diseases that were from the top. Stray cats don’t die from old age, they die from these skin diseases or other problems in their life. That makes them need more care and love than people should give them. And that is what Pasadena Humane is doing for stray cats and other animals who need and home and love. Indeed, there are a lot of animals who are strayed and abandoned, but cats are the most of all the animals who need help and resources to live.  I know that I can’t help stray cats form skin diseases but, I hope this essay can let you help stray cats from these challenges that they face
